About

This is my blog. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My blog without me is useless. Without my blog, I am useless.

My kitchen is complete.  My hopes are high!  This is why…

I was reviewing Men’s Health’s Belly Off and scoured over a sample menu that if followed, (along with the 8 week workout plan) would allow men (probably manly women as well) to shed the pounds.  Not sure if I’m actually going to go ahead and follow the plan in its entirety but I assure you that I will try to follow one part of the “menu” after tonight.

This is because one of the dinner suggestions is a seared medium New York Strip and a heaping portion of a green vegetable.  I think you’ll agree that this suggestion sounds very tasty…  Well to me, it was tasty enough for me to add a stop to my errands this evening and pick up a key item that is essential to searing a steak (per the Men’s Health directions) and that item was an IRON SKILLET. Yes, you read correctly, and IRON f’ing SKILLET!

So long story short…I came home, preheated my oven to 450 degrees.  When the oven was at the proper temperature I placed the IRON SKILLET on the burner, added olive oil,  chopped onion and freshly minced garlic, and turned on the burner.  Once the oil was hot I took my steak and tossed it in the skillet only to hear one of the most wonderful sounds a kitchen could ever hear….sizzzzzzzling.  I left the steak alone for 2 minutes.  When the 2 minutes was up I returned to the pan, grabbed a pair of tongs and carefully flipped the steak in the pan.  This was a bit difficult because the steak stuck to the skillet a bit and the oil was splattering.  Once I flipped the steak I waited another 2 minutes.  When the 2 minutes elapsed I put on my trusty oven mits, grabbed the skillet, and put it in the preheated 450 degree oven for 5 minutes!   After the 5 minutes was up I carefully took the skillet out of the oven and placed it on my burner.  I immediately moved the steak to a plate and waited a few minutes before digging in.

Let me tell you…it was delcious.  The fact that I “could” have one of these every night is promising.  See for yourself…
